Instructions for Participating in the ceremony:
Step 1:
Students enrolled through the USA office in Springfield, Missouri, who wish to attend the ceremony, must request to graduate and submit their graduation fee in enough time that the graduation process can be completed before the May 1 commencement registration deadline. The registrar’s office cannot guarantee that graduation requests/applications and payments received after April 1, 2013 will be processed before the May 1 commencement registration deadline. Please note that all course grades need to be posted and any other program requirements completed (capstone, thesis, etc.) BEFORE students submit graduation requests/applications and fees. Students who are unable to complete the graduation process in enough time to register for commencement will not be eligible to participate in this year’s Commencement ceremony.
Please note that Graduation Applications should only be submitted after all program requirements have been completed and grades posted; courses, capstones, thesis, etc.
Step 2:
Upon receipt of your Graduation Application and fee, a program evaluation will be completed to verify that you have met all graduation requirements. Your diploma or degree will then be mailed to you along with instructions for registering for the 2013 Commencement.
Step 3:
You must submit the 2013 Commencement Registration Form along with the appropriate fee to the GU commencement coordinator before May 1, 2013.
Step 4:
Shortly after May 27, 2013, all ceremony participants will receive an information packet by e-mail. This packet will include all information pertaining to the activities and events surrounding the commencement celebration.
Certificates, Diplomas, and Degrees
Official diplomas and degrees are not given out at the commencement ceremony. They are mailed to you before the commencement ceremony; shortly after your graduation request/application and fee are processed. You do not need to bring your diploma or degree with you to Springfield. During the ceremony, the president of Global University will present each graduate with a diploma cover as he or she walks across the platform.
Regalia (Cap & Gown)
Each graduate must place an order for regalia with the GU commencement coordinator. The commencement fee includes the cost of the cap, the gown, and a dated ('13) tassel. Each graduate-level student will also receive his or her hood during the ceremony. Students graduating with honors will wear honor cords. Only the caps and gowns ordered with your commencement registration may be worn at the commencement ceremony.
Transportation/Lodging
All participants will be responsible for their own airfare, transportation, meals, and lodging. We encourage you to use Springfield's public transportation system during your stay in the city.
