One of Global University’s students in Korea, Chur Llen Pahk, used the message of faith from Hebrews 11:16 at a funeral service. Chur’s Global course God and Angels prepared him for a divine appointment. Every course of Global is designed to equip students for practical ministry. For this course, Chur chose to develop a gospel witness from his personal story of salvation.
Chur went to a funeral service of one of the members of his church. He knew that he would have an opportunity to witness for Christ. He especially wanted to reach the unbelievers who would be present. Most of the people who came were senior citizens who venerated their ancestors. Confucianism is prevalent in this part of Korea, and the people who accept Confucianism have a ritual ceremony for their deceased ancestors at funerals. Chur entitled his message “Our Eternal Home”. His message, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, struck deep in the hearts and minds of those present. Seven people made decisions to accept Christ. Others came to Chur afterwards to ask questions about the ritual ceremony of their deceased family members. Chur’s message was a ray of truth that penetrated the spiritual darkness of their tradition.
Chur as a Global University student exemplifies the dynamic combination of God’s Word spoken appropriately through God’s servant at an opportune time. The knowledge and skill gained through studying with Global prepared him for that moment in his ministry.
