When
The Great Questions of Life, Global University's six-lesson flagship
evangelism course, finds its way to a lost soul, the potential impact
on eternity is without boundary. Since first being written and produced
in 1969, GQL has been printed in over 120 languages and is used
in 170 countries. As a result, 1.7 million written confirmations
of decisions for Christ have been reported thus far.
Terry Peretti, Global University's national director for Italy,
told of two Italian men whose testimonies bear witness to the effectiveness
of GQL as an evangelism tool in that country. In 1974, Luigi Pollidori,
now 50, received a Light for the Lost tract from his cousin, who
was visiting from Milano. Luigi was curious about what the tract
taught, so he requested a copy of The Great Questions of Life from
Global University. "[My wife and I] read it over and over,
until it became worn out," Luigi said.
Luigi began attending an evangelical church. Soon after, he and
his wife were saved. "[God] cared about me," he said.
"He took away all the fear and uncertainty of my life. God
answers prayer." The Pollidoris started churches in Cagli,
their hometown, and Pesaro, one year later. Today, both churches
combined have more than 150 believers. Luigi also won his cousin,
Elio, to the Lord and Elio now pastors a church with over 100 converts.
"We use GQL in a consistent way throughout Italy," Peretti
said. "Besides [Luigi], there are other Christians in Italy
in full-time service who were touched by GQL." Dr. Sebastiano
Bozzon, manager of the national office in Rome, was saved in Naples
in 1976. "Upon hearing the gospel for the first time, [Bozzon]
took one of our LFTL tracts, noticed the ad on the back for a free
Bible course
and ordered [GQL]." He studied every Global
University course printed in Italian at that time.
After he completed a Ph.D. in biological science, Bozzon came to
Rome in 1978 and joined Global University. He has since been the
driving force behind translating Global courses into Italian. Today,
there are 3,000 active Global University students in Italy. All
Christian Life courses, 13 Christian Service courses and two college-level
courses are available in Italian.
Besides translating Global University courses, Bozzon also pastors
two churches in Aprilia and Nettuno near Rome. "When I was
young and a new convert, I thirsted for material that would help
me grow spiritually," Bozzon told Peretti. "There was
nothing to help me study the Bible. I determined if the Lord ever
gave me the chance, I would dedicate my life to editing and producing
Bible study material for the believers in Italy."
The Great Questions of Life has also been produced in audio, video
and electronic formats. Today, Global University missionaries and
workers distribute GQL in schools, prisons, homes and other public
places. It has even penetrated areas where missionaries are not
allowed and has won souls to Christ.
The impact of GQL could not have been possible without Light for
the Lost. Benny Ferguson, national director for LFTL, said that
supporting GQL has been rewarding to the church and conducive to
fulfilling LFTL's mission. "[We] have received countless testimonies
about the impact GQL has had on the kingdom of God," he said.
"By supporting GQL, LFTL is getting the plan of salvation into
the hands of the lost."
Through this course and others like it, Global University is impacting
eternity-winning the lost, training the found and destroying the
spiritual barriers separating people from Jesus.
"The impact of GQL on the kingdom has proven significant,"
Ferguson said. "However, there are still more souls searching
for the message GQL so clearly presents. [Believers] should support
GQL until every soul has been reached with the truth of Jesus Christ."
By supporting Global University you are helping courses like GQL
change lives all over the world.
