The life of a soldier involves many things: training, sacrifice, serving, and above all, the unexpected. When he left the USA, Jerry did not expect his mission in Iraq to be teaching former Muslims the foundations of the Christian faith. However, as a Global University undergraduate student in the U.S. Army, that is exactly what he has been doing.
Jerry enrolled in the course--Introduction to Missions and as he came to the service learning requirement for this course, to plan, prepare, and carry out an outreach to evangelize people from another culture, he realized that God had a greater mission for him in Iraq. As a result of this assignment, a group of former Muslims in Baghdad, Iraq, who also happened to be interpreters for the U.S. Army, received a foundational course in Christianity and the Bible.

The crowd on the outskirts of the city of Kitwe, Zambia in Africa did not look very promising for an evangelistic outreach. The entire area was a type of "red light"? district for prostitutes to openly solicit their clients. There were those in the crowd who were obviously bent on some criminal act; others had obviously been abusing alcohol. Regardless of why they were there, the entire throng seemed loud and disorderly. This student faced the crowd of restless, unruly individuals, and despite all misgivings this student was fired up with a message from the course he had just studied: Paul's Salvation Letters: Galatians and Romans. Fearlessly preaching from the first chapter of Romans, our student clearly showed how God has revealed Himself to mankind and that the godless and wicked would face the wrath of God. As the student preached, the witches and witch doctors were trying to cast curses upon the group of Christians. This bold Christian warrior demonstrated the power of God over the power of Satan and witchcraft by rendering the curses ineffective through the Blood of Christ and the prayers of the saints.

The West Nile Virus may have paralyzed Ray McCullough’s body, but the virus has not paralyzed his spirit. Ray is a Global University student who gave his testimony to 35 homeless people at the Twin Cities Rescue Mission in Marysville, California.
Despite his illness, Ray is still eager to learn, and so he has undertaken Global University undergraduate courses. The end result was that Ray needed to fulfill a ministry assignment for his “Introduction to Missions” course, and although he felt he could have been better prepared, the story of his life proved no less effective.
“Even though I once thought I was ‘all that,’” Ray explained, “and now am paralyzed and poor, I am still thankful to God for all the many gifts He’s given me.”
