Student Overcomes Tragedy and Helps Homeless

Feature Stories

The West Nile Virus may have paralyzed Ray McCullough’s body, but the virus has not paralyzed his spirit. Ray is a Global University student who gave his testimony to 35 homeless people at the Twin Cities Rescue Mission in Marysville, California.

Despite his illness, Ray is still eager to learn, and so he has undertaken Global University undergraduate courses. The end result was that Ray needed to fulfill a ministry assignment for his “Introduction to Missions” course, and although he felt he could have been better prepared, the story of his life proved no less effective.

“Even though I once thought I was ‘all that,’” Ray explained, “and now am paralyzed and poor, I am still thankful to God for all the many gifts He’s given me.”

Weaving his testimony into an outline which included biblical examples such as Abraham and Joseph, Ray spoke about the duties of a Christian as they relate to the Great Commission (Matthew 28). The process of delivering his testimony helped Ray discover a newly-born desire to spread the message of Jesus to the world.

“It is very satisfying to preach God’s Word,” he stated.

Ray excitedly reported there were two decisions for Christ and two rededications following his sermon, and hopes to lead many more to the Lord in his lifetime.

God can and does use anybody if they simply make themselves available to Him regardless of their place or circumstances in life. In fact, God’s will is fulfilled through the circumstances of our lives, and what some would see as a disability, God can use as a unique testimony for His glory.

Are you willing to make yourself available to be used by God? Help others like Ray move for God no matter what the circumstances of their lives may be.
