Kenton, from Texas, learned through his Service Learning Requirement for Global University’s course, The Bible and Missions, that there are “hurting and lost people in the jails and prisons across America…”
The Service Learning Requirement is Global’s assignment that puts the student into hands on, practical ministry situations during each course. God is blessing this effective method to encourage students and to see lives changed.
To fulfill the Bible and Missions SLR requirement, Kenton went with a prison ministry team into a Texas State Prison. His goal was to "[use] the content of this course to help evangelize...."
Speaking from Romans 5:12, 5:8, 6:23, and 10:9-10, Kenton showed the prisoners that sin came into the world through Satan, that Jesus Christ took the punishment for sin, and that turning to God brings freedom…even to those in prison. Emphasizing Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, the team went from cell to cell presenting the Gospel and giving personal testimonies pertinent to the individual prisoners.
That day’s ministry to approximately thirty people resulted in ten inmates accepting Jesus Christ as Savior. Reflecting on this experience, Kenton says, “I took note that the simplicity of the Gospel changes lives....” He adds that we need to make sure that “Jesus always stays our MAIN POINT.”
In truth, Jesus Christ must be the Main Point of our witness and of our lives. There are people watching from invisible prisons who need to see Jesus in us.
What or who is the Main Point of your life?
