Water for Life

Feature Stories

“…If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38 (NKJV)

Did you know that water intake fuels the body, builds muscle, and can get rid of excess weight? The more we exercise the more water we need. Each year, worldwide, more than 89 billion liters of bottled water are consumed. We cannot live without a constant supply of water.

One of our Global University students, Joan of South Africa, found the correlation between water in the physical realm and water in the spiritual realm a surprising evangelism opportunity after she finished the Global course, Studies in Physical Science.

One of the requirements for this course is to plan and carr ries/admin/assets/editors/tinymce_3/jscripts/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js" type="text/javascript"> y out a witness to an individual or to a group. Joan came up with an innovative and appealing plan to fulfill this requirement. After receiving permission to use a hall in her church, she organized an exercise program for women of all ages. She invited an aerobics instructor and a representative from a water bottling company. Joan then prepared a message on the topic “Water for Life,” based on John 7:37-38 and Ecclesiastes 1:7.

About sixty women between the ages of 25 and 55 came to the meeting. Joan shared with the women taught that water is an absolute essential to life. She also said that there is a constant need for a fresh supply of water. She explained that the rivers pour into the sea, then through the hydrological cycle, rain falls, rivers are refilled, and the same repeating sequence occurs. This is a purposeful cycle as this means fresh water is constantly supplied to man, animals, and plants.

In the same way, Jesus calls people to drink of the Water of Life and be born again. This process is essential to having eternal life. He also promises that those who believe in Him will receive Living Water which is the overflowing fullness of the Spirit-filled life. Life’s issues cannot defeat believers because Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, provides an abundant supply.

Of the sixty women who attended the exercise program, twelve made a decision to receive Jesus as Savior, receiving this Living Water.

In reflecting on this ministry, Joan says, “God…gave me abundant spiritual water with which I can refresh the dry spiritual world around me.”

You can be a part of this outpouring of Living Water as you remember to pray for and support the ministry of Global University.
