Global University Celebrates the Retirement of GU Team Members Ron & Carolyn Hittenberger

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri- Rev. Ron & Carolyn Hittenberger, Assemblies of God World Missionaries (AGWM) and Global University team members, were recently honored at a special reception recognizing their upcoming retirement on December 31, 2013.

The Hittenbergers received their AGWM missionary appointment in July of 1965 and served as missionaries to the country of Haiti, teaching in the Bible School, serving the AG fellowship as National Superintendent and establishing a National Women’s Ministry, until 1988. From 1980-1988, Ron also served as the National Director for ICI/Global University, as well as serving as the Regional Director for the Caribbean from 1980-1985.

In 1990, after serving as missionaries in residence at Vanguard University, Ron & Carolyn traveled to the Bahamas to oversee the AG Bible School in that region and to bring the curriculum to a consistent and efficient program. Ron also served as the National Director for ICI/Global University during this time, and both he and Carolyn taught courses at the Bible School. In 1994, Ron accepted a position as the Academic Dean for the Caribbean School of Theology (CST), which uses many Global University courses. Carolyn continued to teach as Ron traveled throughout the Caribbean, representing CST.

In November of 2008, the Hittenbergers transitioned to Global University’s international office in Springfield, Missouri. Ron has served as GU's Regional Director for the Caribbean and as a GU faculty member. Carolyn has served as his administrative assistant and participated in several other avenues of service:  member of the Spiritual Life Committee, the Global Operations Team and writing for the Alumni Spotlight and the GU blog.

“Working with GU's dedicated and capable faculty and staff has enriched our lives.  We are grateful to have been a part of this ministry which God is using in such amazing ways around the world.” reflects Carolyn. The Hittenbergers plan to spend time with their grandchildren and continue work with Global on a volunteer basis as their retirement commences. They will also be available to teach GU courses, both stateside and abroad.
