Global University Announces New Vice President of Global Operations

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri- Rev. Joel Ellis has been appointed as Global University’s new Vice President of Global Operations. Ellis is preceded in the Vice President position by Dr. Joe Szabo, who served Global University for eight years, and in the role of Vice President from 2009 through 2013. Ellis and his wife, Carla, have ministered with the Assemblies of God in various roles over the past 25 years, including associate pastor positions and at the Assemblies of God National Leadership and Resource Center.

Most recently, Ellis has been on assignment as an Assemblies of God World Missionary to India, serving the country since 2004. Before his transition to Global University’s international office in Springfield, Missouri, Ellis served as the Regional Director for Global University in India and he will continue to serve in this capacity as Vice President of Global Operations. As Regional Director, he is working with proven Indian leaders to implement Vision 2020 – that is, a goal to train 30,000 lay pastors to plant 25,000 new house churches by the year 2020. To this end, Joey led the India College of Ministry, a Global University training school designed to disciple and deploy these lay pastors to the unreached people of India.

"The past 8 1/2 years serving with Global University gave me the opportunity to see first hand, in dozens of countries, the impact this school has had and is having in the lives of believers, particularly church leaders. Students around the world love GU courses and are putting into practice the lessons they learn. It has been my privilege to supervise the network of 218 GU offices in 144 countries and teach GU material. My successor, Rev. Joey Ellis, comes highly qualified to serve as the new Vice President of Global Operations. He has served in pastoral ministry in USA churches and has served three terms as a missionary to India, working particularly in the area of ministerial training." reflects Dr. Joe Szabo.

Ellis’ focus as he takes on this Global Operations position is to expand efforts to develop and equip leaders with a passion to reach the unreached peoples of the world. Global University materials offer the ideal medium to do such training.

Joel states, “I believe we are on the brink of seeing one of the greatest church planting movements the world has ever seen. Global University will play a huge role in this endeavor by equipping leaders with an unprecedented zeal to reach the lost.”
