SPRINGFIELD, Missouri- The streets of Springfield were filled with representatives from around the world as Assemblies of God adherents from 120 nations gathered together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Assemblies of God on August 5-10, 2014.
Global University was involved in this Centennial Celebration through many avenues. The Global Church Planting Summit kicked off the week, and Global University was represented at this gathering via an exhibit booth and two on stage presentations to a crowd of more than 2,500. Attendees learned the ways in which Global University partners with international leaders around the world to train pastors and plant churches in strategic locations, and invited guests to learn more about the ways in which Global could partner with them.
An Open House event at Global University’s international office, located at 1211 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, was held on Thursday afternoon, August 7th, from 1:00-3:00pm. More than 350 guests visited the office and were treated to delicious food from local eatery Tea Bar and Bites, 621 S. Pickwick Ave., Springfield, as well as a tour of the building and interaction with the University’s leadership team and staff members.
A second exhibit booth for the University was prominently displayed at the Hammons Student Center, adjacent to the JQH arena where the Centennial Celebration took place from Thursday, August 7 through Sunday, August 11. Global team members greeted attendees and shared the many offerings of the University with some of the more than 6,000 Centennial Celebration participants. In addition, several international Assemblies of God delegations met together at Global University’s international office throughout the week.
“It was an honor for us to meet and interact with our Global University friends and partners from around the world during the Assemblies of God 100th Anniversary celebration,” said Dr. Gary Seevers, Jr., president of Global University. “This event was a wonderful opportunity for us to greet our students from around the world, interact with key Assemblies of God international leaders, and share the mission of Global University with a wide international audience. It was a defining moment in our history as an Assemblies of God institution, and a great launching pad from which to move forward with renewed purpose and vision.”
