- How are the courses delivered to me, and how do I actually
study?
The course materials are typically delivered to you by mail. There are unit assignments and exams for you to complete. Final exams are administered and returned to Global University for grading by an approved proctor. Faculty members are available to assist you in the learning process, should questions arise.
- Is there a residential requirement?
No. However, students may visit the Global University campus if they desire to use the library facilities. One of the primary benefits of distance education is that you can study in the convenience of your home at your own pace. Assisted electronic research is available through our Online Research Center (ORC) by going to http://orc.globaluniversity.edu/.
- What is the total cost for a degree?
You can calculate the cost of tuition by multiplying the cost of one undergraduate credit by the number of credits required for a particular degree. For example, in 2008 the tuition cost for a B.A. degree would be 128 credits multiplied by $99 US which is $12,672. This tuition cost does not include course materials or other student fees. The undergraduate tuition and fees schedule lists other student fees and the undergraduate course order form lists the cost of tuition and materials for each course.
- What kind of financial aid is available to students?
Global University has been approved by the approving agency for U.S. veterans benefits. This approval is for
the independent-study courses leading to an associate of arts degree, a bachelor of arts degree, a master of arts degree, or a master of divinity degree. Tuition, materials, and postage are paid by the veteran upon enrollment. Reimbursement of qualified expenses is made through the Veterans Administration (VA) following certification from Global University's VA enrollment office. Veterans who are interested in this tuition assistance should request information from Global University's VA enrollment office in Springfield, Missouri.
- How long will it take to graduate with a degree?
The amount of time it takes to complete a degree varies. If you study full-time and complete 32 credits per year, a 128 credit B.A. degree will take four years to complete. Transfer of credit that may be awarded for coursework you completed at other institutions will decrease the time needed for you to complete a degree program.
- Do you offer credit for life experience?
Global University allows advanced placement for qualified students based on their informal learning experiences. Some individuals have attained a profound knowledge of the Bible or have mastered a particular aspect of ministry without attending a Bible college or a theological seminary. If you believe that your knowledge in a specific subject area is similar to the content of a Global University course (or courses) as described in the catalog or the course outline and/or objectives, and if this learning experience can be documented, then you may submit an "Experiential Learning Portfolio." The cost for experiential credit is a one-time non-refundable fee equivalent to one credit of tuition for the evaluation of portfolio(s) and one-half tuition per credit awarded. Evaluation of your portfolio does not guarantee credit will be granted. Before applying for experiential learning credit please contact the Admissions and Records department. Additional information can be found at http://www.globaluniversity.edu/pdf/creditforlearning.pdf.
- Will you transfer credits from other schools?
Courses a student studied at an approved institution and earned a course grade equivalent to Global University's "C" (average) or better can be evaluated for transfer of credit. All transfer credit is based on an evaluation of official transcripts received directly from the institutions attended and must be applicable to Global University's academic program requirements.
- How many courses should I study at the same time?
You should determine how many hours per week you can devote to your studies. Student studying six (6) hours per week can usually complete one 3-credit course in 15 weeks.
- How long do I have to complete a course?
A student should be able to complete a course within four months. As a distance education school that relies on the promptness of the postal system, a Global University student is given six months to complete a degree-level course.
- How do I enroll in an undergraduate course?
Upon submission of application and acceptance into an undergraduate program, a student may enroll in a course(s) by:
