SPRINGFIELD, Missouri— On August 21 team members from Global University, an accredited distance learning university of the Assemblies of God, joined thousands of volunteers from local businesses and organizations to assist the United Way of the Ozarks in a city-wide ‘Day of Caring’.
The annual event is a day in which volunteers from across the city reach out to the Springfield community to complete service-oriented projects at a host of non-profit organizations.
23 Global University team members partnered with several organizations, including the Ozarks Food Harvest, the American Red Cross, the Vision Rehab Center and the Lost & Found Grief Center. Volunteers assisted in cleaning offices, organizing supplies, power washing buildings, landscaping, and collecting food donations at a local retail store.
“My sincerest appreciation to your team for an amazing day of service during United Way Day of Caring. This important day of service helps meet the needs of the 170,000 southwest Missourians our network and programs serve. Your gift of time Transformed Hunger into Hope for many of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity, 1 in 6 in southwest Missouri.” said Jolene Thompson, Volunteer Services Coordinator for Ozarks Food Harvest. “Thank you for helping us wrap up summer on such a hopeful note!”
