  1. Is Global University accredited?

Global University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association (NCA). Global University is also accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The NCA/HLC and the DETC are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Global University is listed in Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education, the official guide to institutions of higher learning accredited by agencies that are recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Global University is certified to operate in the state of Missouri (USA) by the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education.

Visit our accreditation and authorization page for more information.

  2. How are the courses delivered to me?

The Global University independent-study text (IST) or study guides are available in both print and PDF version. Even if you order a course in printed format, you will also have access to the IST or study guide online if available. Printed course materials are shipped to you. The PDF version can be downloaded from our website.

  3. How do I actually study?

The Global University independent-study text (IST) or study guide is your teacher. The course introduction found in the front of each course IST or study guide serves as your syllabus. It will walk you through what is required for your course and how to study. You will also receive a Student Packet for each course along with your IST or study guide. The Student Packet includes two helpful tools. The Checklist of Study Methods and the Student Planner and Record will help you know how to study a lesson, review for a unit progress evaluation on a group of lessons, and prepare for the final examination that covers all of the lessons. If you do not usually study as recommended, you will need to adapt your study methods to achieve the highest success in the course.

  4. Is there a residential requirement?

No. However, students may visit the Global University campus if they desire to use the library facilities. One of the primary benefits of distance education is that you can study in the convenience of your home at your own pace. Assisted electronic research is available through our online Library by going to http://library.globaluniversity.edu/ .

  5. What is the total cost for a degree?

You can calculate the cost of tuition by multiplying the cost of one undergraduate credit by the number of credits required for a particular degree. For example, in 2014 the tuition cost for a B.A. degree is 128 credits multiplied by $131 US which is $16,768. This tuition cost does not include course materials or other student fees. The undergraduate tuition and fees schedule lists other student fees and the undergraduate course order form lists the cost of tuition and materials for each course.

  6. What kind of financial aid is available to students?

See information available at Financial Assistance.

  7. How long will it take to graduate with a degree?

The amount of time it takes to complete a degree varies. If you study full-time and complete 32 credits per year, a 128 credit B.A. degree will take four years to complete. Transfer of credit that may be awarded for coursework you completed at other institutions will decrease the time needed for you to complete a degree program.

  8. How do I request my undergraduate diploma?

When you are within 18 credits of graduating you may request a Graduation Check by sending an email to degreeaudit@globaluniversity.edu. When all of your courses are complete, you may submit the Undergraduate Graduation Application form along with the appropriate payment. Your diploma will be mailed shortly after your graduation application has been processed. Eligible students will receive an invitation along with a sign-up form to Global University's annual commencement ceremony. Note: Students enrolled through a National Office need to contact their local enrollment office for graduation instructions.

  9. Do you offer credit for life experience?

Global University allows advanced placement for qualified students based on their informal learning experiences. Some individuals have attained a profound knowledge of the Bible or have mastered a particular aspect of ministry without attending a Bible college or a theological seminary. If you believe that your knowledge in a specific subject area is similar to the content of a Global University course (or courses) as described in the catalog or the course outline and/or objectives, and if this learning experience can be documented, then you may submit an "Experiential Learning Portfolio." The cost for experiential credit is a one-time non-refundable fee equivalent to one credit of tuition for the evaluation of portfolio(s) and one-half tuition per credit awarded. Evaluation of your portfolio does not guarantee credit will be granted. Before applying for experiential learning credit please contact the Admissions and Records department. Additional information can be found at Credit for Learning.

  10. Will you transfer credits from other schools?

Students who wish to transfer credit into Global University or who feel they qualify for advanced placement in their study programs may request advanced placement when they apply for an academic program of study. The options for obtaining advanced placement include:
    1. Presenting official transcripts from other academic institutions
    2. Credit for experienced-based learning
    3. College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
    More information on Advanced Placement.

  11. How many courses should I study at the same time?

A Global University student is given six months from the day they enroll in/order a degree-level course to complete it. A student should be able to complete a course within four months. Should it be necessary, a student can receive a 6-month extension (for a total of one year from the original order/enrollment date). See Undergraduate Tuition and Fees for extension fee amount.

  12. How long do I have to complete a course?

A student should be able to complete a course within four months. As a distance education school that relies on the promptness of the postal system, a Global University student is given six months to complete a degree-level course.

  13. How do I enroll in an undergraduate course?

Upon submission of application and acceptance into an undergraduate program, a student may enroll in a course(s) by:
